JIM MICH, JR.
Coach Mich was born in Pottstown and attended St. Pius X High School. While at St. Pius, he participated in both football and wrestling. Jim was chosen as an all-league selection defensive back his senior year and was named to the second-team All-Southeastern PA Football Team. During his senior season, Jim was a member of the Pius football team that played in the Eastern State Final and lost to eventual state champions, Camp Hill. As a wrestler, Jim was a district runner-up in his junior year and qualified for regionals for three straight years.
Jim attended Kutztown University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. At Kutztown, Jim received a partial athletic scholarship as a member of the wrestling team. During his senior year he finished in fourth place in the national qualifier. Jim earned his Master of Science degree in education from Gratz College.
Jim began his teaching and coaching career at Pottstown High School. During his time at Pottstown, Jim served as the receivers coach and was the defensive coordinator for six years. In 2001, Pottstown won the Pac-10 title and qualified for the district playoffs. That year, Pottstown’s defense recorded nine shut outs and gave up only three points in the league. Additionally, Jim had the privilege of coaching four Division I players. Since 2004, Jim has been teaching and coaching at Spring-Ford High School.
Jim’s hobbies include spending time with family and friends, exercise, and playing golf. He resides in Douglassville with his wife, Marie.
